The Position
Clinical Social Workers provide clinical services to clients/inmates in a residential, home, inpatient, outpatient, rehabilitation, correctional or similar setting.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.
Position is a Clinical Social Worker II at SOUTHERN NEVADA ADULT MENTAL HEALTH SERVICES (SNAMHS) and may be assigned to Inpatient Services, Outpatient Services, or Community Services. Agency positions may be assigned to any SNAMHS work location. Our Agency's mission is to help adults with mental illness improve their quality of life. Through a team approach, we provide innovative inpatient and outpatient mental health services for the Southern Nevada community. Some of the services we provide include Inpatient Services, Mobile Crises, Outpatient Counseling, Service Coordination, Intensive Service Coordination, Medication Clinic, Residential Support Programs, Mental Health Court, Consumer Advocacy, Assisted Outpatient Treatment (AOT) and Programs for Assertive Community Treatment (PACT) teams. Inpatient services are provided through the Rawson-Neal Psychiatric Hospital. Outpatient services are provided through mental health clinics located throughout the community. We are accredited by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). SNAMHS is an exciting place to work with emphasis on utilizing the recovery model, developing innovative programs, increasing consumer and family involvement, educating the public through a variety of activities, and implementing a best practices clinical program. Positions at this level must obtain and maintain NV licensure to engage in social work as a Clinical Social Worker. Incumbents require a working knowledge of theories and principles of counseling and psychotherapy; symptoms, characteristics and treatment of mental illness, emotional and behavioral disorders; crises intervention techniques; case management practices and procedures; psycho-diagnostic techniques; laws governing abuse and neglect of clients. Incumbents must have the ability to assess, develop and implement treatment plans and goals; write comprehensive evaluations, reports and recommendations The position will coordinate and obtain community services for clients, actively participate on the treatment team, develop treatment plans, and provide crisis intervention. Emphasis on utilizing the recovery model, formulating individualized treatment plans that leads to self sufficiency. Ensuring compliance with CMS standards, as well as established laws, regulations and SNAMHS policies. Position is full-time with an anticipated work schedule of 8a.m. to 5p.m. Monday through Friday, with Saturday and Sunday off. Incumbents will be working an innovative variable schedule with overtime after 40 hours per week. This position requires completion of respirator fit testing and completion of Certification in Conflict Prevention and Response Training, which is provided by the agency. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Licensure as a Clinical Social Worker by the Board of Examiners for Social Workers.
Special Notes
    Incumbents must obtain and maintain licensure or provisional licensure to engage in social work as a Clinical Social Worker or associate in social work in accordance with NRS Chapter 641B and the regulations adopted by the Board of Examiners for Social Workers.
    Persons employed by a government agency on July 1, 1988 as a social worker, supervisor of social work or administrator of social work who were performing clinical social work duties, and who possess a license to practice as an associate in social work and who meet the experience requirements are eligible to compete in the selection process for this series.
Special Requirements
    A valid driver's license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
    A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items.
Additional Position Criteria
    Must have experience using a Personal Computer
    Must have experience using an electronic Medical Records system or on-line Patient charting system.
