Licensed Professional Engineers provide professional services involving the application of engineering principles and data, or activities in connection with public or private utilities, structures, buildings, machines, equipment or projects impacting the public welfare or the safeguarding of life, health or property.
This position is located within the Materials Division, Carson City. Incumbent will perform geotechnical analysis and provide design/construction recommendations for foundations supporting all types of transportation facilities, including bridges, buildings, and retaining walls; conduct field explorations and inspections; conduct seismic surveys; perform stability analysis for rock and soil cut slopes, rock falls, and landslides; provide design/construction recommendations for revetments, subsurface trench drains, and roadway subgrade support; perform stability and settlement analysis for embankments. This position prepares geotechnical reports and design memoranda; reviews construction project plans, specifications, and cost estimates; manages outside consultants geotechnical work; attends meetings; conducts construction inspections; provides technical assistance during construction projects; and provides support in disputing contractors' claims.

Current Licensure as a Professional Engineer (P.E.) |

A person that is a licensed Professional Engineer in another state must become licensed as a Professional Engineer in Nevada within six months of appointment as a condition of employment.
|
|
The practice of engineering does not include land surveying or the work ordinarily performed by persons who operate or maintain machinery or equipment.
|
|
Registration as a Professional Engineer is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
|
|
This position requires experience in geotechnical design for civil engineering applications. |
