The Position
Mid-Level Medical Practitioners may be either Advanced Practitioners of Nursing or Physician Assistants who provide medical care in psychiatric or correctional settings.
Mid-Level Medical Practitioners may be either Advanced Practitioners of Nursing or Physician Assistants who provide medical care in psychiatric or correctional settings. Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform advanced-level work and may provide work direction and training to others.
This position is for a Mid-Level Medical Practitioner-Physician Assistant qualified to provide psychiatric care or medical care in a psychiatric setting. This position is located at Northern Nevada Adult Mental Health Services (NNAMHS) in Sparks, Nevada. Incumbent will work as part of the inpatient medical clinic team, providing medical assessments on admission and maintenance medical care, in collaboration with treating psychiatrists; perform medical clearance and/or history and physical examinations; evaluate and treat medical issues including evaluation of laboratory values, EKG's and other medical tests; and perform administration and monitoring of medications. Under the supervision of a licensed medical physician (DO or MD); function as liaison with psychiatrists and community physicians to provide care to patients. Incumbent will provide employee health screenings involving pre-scheduled brief history and physicals at the time of hire. *** THIS RECRUITMENT MAY CLOSE AT ANY TIME BASED ON THE AMOUNT OF APPLICATIONS RECEIVED. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Licensure by the Nevada State Board of Medical Examiners or certification by the Nevada State Board of Osteopathic Medicine as a Physician Assistant; OR certification of recognition as an Advanced Practitioner of Nursing, Family Nurse Practitioner or Adult Nurse Practitioner issued by the Nevada State Board of Nursing.
Special Requirements
    Current certification of registration or license to prescribe from the Nevada Board of Pharmacy is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
    Licensure to prescribe controlled substances from the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
    Certification or licensure to dispense controlled substances, poisons, dangerous drugs and devices from the Nevada State Board of Nursing and Nevada Board of Pharmacy is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
    A valid driver's license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
    Certification in Basic Life Support is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
    A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items.
    Pursuant to NRS 284.4066, positions in this series have been identified as affecting public safety. Persons offered employment in this series must submit to a pre-employment screening for controlled substances.
    Current licensure by the Nevada State Board of Medical Examiners; certification by the Nevada State Board of Osteopathic Medicine as a Physician Assistant or certification of recognition as an Advanced Practitioner of Nursing, Family Nurse Practitioner or Adult Nurse practitioner issued by the Nevada state board of Nursing is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
    Current certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) is required.
The Examination

The exam will consist of an application evaluation. It is essential that applications include detailed information with time frames regarding education and experience. The most qualified applicants will be contacted by the hiring agency for interview. The hiring agency may require specific skills related testing as part of the interviewing process.
