Personnel Officer's plan, organize and administer personnel services such as employee relations, selection, training and payroll in an assigned agency.
Incumbents function as first-line supervisors who train, supervise and evaluate the performance of assigned staff; assign and review work; and initiate disciplinary action.
The Division of Human Resource Management, Agency HR Services (AHRS), is seeking a Personnel Officer 1 to manage and coordinate Human Resource (HR) Services in support of approximately 720 FTEs. This position is responsible for managing the Southern Nevada AHRS office. The incumbent will communicate with employees, supervisors and managers, including the management teams of agencies' served, offering viable solutions to complex HR issues; provide supervision and direct work activities of a small professional and technical team delivering comprehensive HR services; oversee the administration of recruitment, hiring, orientation, leave, rules, classification, employee/management consultation, mediation, disciplinary issues, grievances, complaints, and policy determinations. The selected candidate will work in partnership with the AHRS senior management team to ensure AHRS goals and objectives are met. NOTE: Per NV State Legislature, State of Nevada Classified employees are subject to a mandatory unpaid furlough requirement of 48 hours per year (part-time prorated) through June 30, 2015.

Graduation from an accredited four year college or university in personnel management, business administration, public administration or related area and three years of progressively responsible professional personnel management experience; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience
