The Position
Auditors conduct audits on accounts, records, activities, operations and/or internal controls of individuals, business organizations, State agencies or other government jurisdictions subject to State taxation or regulation to ensure compliance with State and federal rules and regulations and legal requirements and/or proper safeguarding of agency funds.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.
This position is for a Sales/Use/Excise Tax Auditor and can be located in the Atlanta, GA or Orlando, FL area. The auditor performs a review of taxpayer documents to ensure compliance of Nevada State laws and regulations. The position requires the Auditor to have a separate home office space for which a monthly rent allowance of $250 is provided. Incumbent receives an additional 10% in salary to accommodate for State taxes. Travel is reimbursed based upon General Services Administration (GSA) rate, at the time of travel.
NOTE: Per NV State Legislature, State of Nevada Classified employees are subject to a mandatory unpaid furlough requirement of 48 hours per year (part-time prorated) through June 30, 2015.
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Graduation from an accredited four year college or university in accounting and one year of professional level auditing or accounting experience involving analyzing financial information and making recommendations based upon that analysis; OR one year of experience comparable to an Auditor I in Nevada State service; OR graduation from high school or an equivalent education and four years of auditing or accounting experience involving analyzing financial information and making recommendations based upon that analysis and six semester credit hours in accounting from an accredited institution; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience. NOTE: Minimal post-secondary coursework of six units in beginning accounting is required.

Special Requirements
A valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continued employment.
A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items.
A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.
This position requires moderate travel.
Transcripts of college credits are required.
