Licensed Psychologists provide psychological testing, evaluation, psychotherapy, counseling, and consultation to clients or inmates in residential, inpatient and outpatient settings, at a mental health, intellectual disabilities, or correctional facility, or in other settings where psychological services are provided.
Incumbents function as managers who train, supervise and evaluate the performance of subordinate supervisors; develop policies and procedures; and allocate staff and resources to accomplish goals and objectives.
This recruitment is for the vacancy of Licensed Psychologist 2, or Lead Psychologist, in the Community Services Department at the Desert Regional Center (DRC) in Las Vegas. The incumbent will supervise up to eight Licensed Psychologist 1s and manage the clinical department which supports the Community Services Department. Incumbent will possess experience in leadership and supervision; he/she will have knowledge of HCBS Waiver, Medicaid, State and agency policy and procedure, and current/pending legislation or regulation change that affect developmental services. The position will require collaboration and partnership with the statewide psychology team in effort to define the vision and scope of clinical services, and to align policy and procedures of psychology services for DS in Nevada.
The incumbent will work with individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities and related conditions; such as, Autism, Seizures, Cerebral Palsy and Acquired Brain Injury. In many cases the individuals served also have co-occurring mental health diagnosis. The incumbent is responsible for psychological testing and adaptive functioning assessments to determine eligibility for DRC services including Intermediate Care Facility/Intellectual Disabilities (ICF/ID) level of care services. Incumbent will be required to: Write comprehensive reports which will record findings, observations, and recommendations for treatment plans used to serve the individual; Provide psychological consultation services for individuals, families and the clinical team for the purpose of making treatment recommendations; Develop programs that individuals served and support staff or families can follow to improve adaptive skills and mitigate challenging behavior; Provide individual counseling or psychotherapy to individuals served to help them cope with their disability and function more independently in the community; Provide crisis management and as requested; Serve on committees such as the Oversight Committee on Physical Intervention; Complete projects as directed by Administration that relate to psychology services; Attend court as requested on behalf of the agency or individuals when psychological information is required; Lead departmental meetings; Participate in team and clinical meetings to review the status of individuals served.
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:

Two years of post-doctoral experience in providing psychological services in an inpatient, outpatient or residential setting, which must have included one year of experience in the supervision of clinicians. |

Working evenings, weekends, and/or holidays is required. |

A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items. |

A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant. |

Licensed Psychologist II's must possess current licensure as a Psychologist issued by the State of Nevada Board of Psychological Examiners at the time of appointment and maintain licensure as a condition of continuing employment. |
