Public Service Interns receive training and complete a variety of assignments in staff activities directly relating to their major course of study while enrolled in an educational institution.
Works as a temporary employee for the Department of Transportation in a student capacity. Vacancies are located in Reno, Carson City, Elko, Winnemucca and Las Vegas. The emphasis of the summer internship program is civil engineering. However, there may be limited openings for students from other disciplines, such as Environmental Science, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, Traffic Engineering, Biology, Archaeology, Surveying, Project Management, Architecture, Urban/City Planning, Cartography, Landscape Architecture, GIS, Information Technology, Business Administration and Human Resources. This recruitment is for students at the undergraduate level. Work assignments will vary as an intern progresses in class standing. Program duration is from May 26, 2015 through August 14, 2015. In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:

Graduation from high school or the equivalent and enrollment and continued successful performance in an academic program related to the field of employment at an accredited college or university. |

Employment is not to exceed six months from the date of graduation.
|

Employment in this class will not lead to permanent status in State service.
|
|
A valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment. |

Pursuant to NRS 284.4066, this position has been identified as affecting public safety. Persons offered employment in this position must first submit to a pre-employment screening test for controlled substances. |
