Maintenance Repair Workers perform semi-skilled work in the building and mechanical trades to repair, construct, and/or maintain buildings, facilities and equipment.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.
This position participates in the day-to-day operations of the Division's Buildings & Grounds Section located in Las Vegas, performing semi-skilled basic maintenance and repair work and providing assistance to journey-level Maintenance Repair Specialists in the trade areas of plumbing, carpentry, painting, electrical, mechanical, equipment maintenance and repair, concrete work, welding/machining and evaporative coolers in one or more state-owned buildings or premises. This work requires the operation of various hand tools, power tools, power equipment, and heavy machinery and equipment, as well as the performance of preventative maintenance for tools, machinery and equipment. This position is required to be placed on the after-hours/on-call rotation list for assisting with emergencies or planned work, when contacted by the scheduled on-call designee. NOTE: Per NV State Legislature, State of Nevada Classified employees are subject to a mandatory unpaid furlough requirement of 48 hours per year (part-time prorated) through June 30, 2015.
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Two years of building, grounds and equipment maintenance
experience in performing semi-skilled building/grounds and equipment maintenance work; OR one year of experience as a Maintenance Repair Worker I in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Requirements
A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items.
A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.
A valid Class C Nevada driver's license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
Additional Position Criteria
