The Position
DMV Service Technicians provide customer services associated with driver's license, vehicle, and business occupational licensing programs.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform advanced-level work and may provide work direction and training to others.Incumbents function as first-line supervisors who train, supervise and evaluate the performance of assigned staff; assign and review work; and initiate disciplinary action.
This position is located in Winnemucca within our Field Services Division. The DMV Technician 4 will conduct commercial and/or non-commercial driving skill tests including problem and high risk drivers; drivers with physical/mental disabilities, and for non - English speaking or limited English speaking drivers; determine applicant's ability to safely operate a vehicle; review test results with applicant; counsel drivers, refer for driver improvement courses; and apply restrictions to driver privilege when appropriate. Additional duties may include first line supervision, or functioning as a subject matter expert in a specified program area's. Under NRS 293.504 the Department of Motor Vehicles is a voter registration agency. AB 82, enacted by the Nevada State Legislature in the 2011 session, amended NRS 293.5045 to provide that a voter registration agency shall not knowingly employ a person whose duties will include the registration of voters if the person has been convicted of a felony involving theft or fraud.

To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Graduation from high school or equivalent education and four years of varied and increasingly responsible experience related to registration/titling of motor vehicles or licensing motor vehicle operators, one year of which was equivalent to a DMV Services Technician III performing a variety of transactions involving standard driver's license and/or registration transactions, vehicle ownership transactions, issuance of duplicate driver's license and/or registration, and assisting new residents in obtaining driver's license/registration; OR one year of experience as a DMV Services Technician III in Nevada State service; OR two years of experience as a DMV Services Technician II in a relevant program-specific area.
Special Notes
    Pursuant to NRS 293-5045, a voter registration agency shall not knowingly employ a person whose duties will include the registration of voters if the person has been convicted of a felony involving theft or fraud.
Special Requirements
    A valid driver's license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continued employment.
    A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items.
    A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.
The Examination
