JOB INFORMATION
Work Type: Permanent, full time vacancies as they may occur
in this geographical location.
Biologists conduct fisheries, wildlife and/or habitat management projects and research studies including data collection, analysis and interpretation; develop and implement project proposals and work plans; prepare recommendations; and participate in public relations activities.
Incumbents perform in a trainee capacity and acquire the knowledge, skills and abilities required in this occupation.
The Panaca Game Division Biologist position has responsibilities for population management, habitat management and other duties
associated with big game and upland game within Lincoln County Nevada. This includes but is not limited to Management Areas 23,
24, and certain species associated with Areas 22, 27. Major duties consist of survey and inventory which include aerial and ground
surveys, data management, and data analysis including population modeling, report writing and public presentations. The position
will deal extensively with land management agencies, sportsmen and the general public. The ability to organize, conduct, and
participate in aerial helicopter population surveys is crucial to success in this position.
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in biology, wildlife management or closely related field; OR an equivalent combination of education and professional experience in conducting research studies; data collection, analysis and interpretation; and development and implementation of project proposals for fisheries, wildlife and/or habitat management projects; OR graduation from high school and two years of technical wildlife management or fisheries experience.
Special Notes
Work may be performed under adverse weather conditions and include extensive walking under difficult conditions in remote and/or primitive locations.
Working on occasional nights and/or weekends may be required.
Specialized experience may be required and will be identified at the time of recruitment.
Special Requirements
Statewide travel and outdoor work is required.
A valid driver's license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
Additional Position Criteria
Experience with technical writing
Experience and ability to conduct extensive aerial surveys in both the front seat and back seat of a helicopter
