The Position
Social Workers are licensed professionals who provide case management services to children, families, vulnerable adults with intellectual, developmental, physical disabilities, serious mental illness, and older adults (collectively referred to as "vulnerable adults") and other individuals within local communities and institutions.
Positions in the Division of Child and Family Services are assigned to provide child welfare services to children and families within local communities in Northern and Rural Nevada. This recruitment is for a Social Worker I underfilling a Social Worker II position located within the Rural Region Foster Care/Adoption Licensing Unit. Responsibilities for this position include: assessments of applicants for foster care licensure; licensing violations as well as any safety and risk factors; utilize Structured Analysis Family Evaluation (SAFE) as required for home studies; deliver strength-based family centered case management services to promote safety for the children and preservation of the foster family placements. Conducts ongoing recruitments throughout the rural areas of Nevada for potential foster/adoptive families; provide foster/adoptive parents with pre-service and advanced training; participate and engage in community functions. The Nevada DIVISION OF CHILD AND FAMILY SERVICES (DCFS), together in partnership with families, communities and other governmental agencies, provides support and services to assist Nevada's children and families in reaching their full human potential. DCFS programs include child protective and welfare service delivery in rural Nevada and oversight of urban county-operated child protective and welfare services, children's mental/behavioral health treatment and residential services (outpatient and inpatient acute) in urban Nevada, and statewide juvenile justice services including state-operated youth training centers and youth parole. DCFS is an extremely complex organization with incredibly dedicated and professional staff that are committed to building strong communities through strengthening families. This is a full time position with an anticipated work schedule of 8 am - 5 pm, Monday - Friday and includes a variable work agreement with overtime after 40 hours per week. DCFS also encourages education by providing on-going trainings and paid release time for staff to obtain Continuing Education Units.

To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Licensure or provisional licensure as a Social Worker, Clinical Social Worker, Independent Social Worker or Associate in Social Work by the State of Nevada Board of Examiners for Social Workers.
Special Requirements
    Licensure or provisional licensure as a Social Worker, Clinical Social Worker, Independent Social Worker, or Associate in Social Work by the State of Nevada Board of Examiners for Social Workers is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
    Working evenings, weekends, and/or holidays is required by the Division of Child and Family Services.
    A valid driver's license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
    A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.
The Examination
