Program Officers administer a program or major component of a program by planning, coordinating and managing services and activities in accordance with legal and regulatory requirements and established program performance standards and objectives.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.
Under the direction of the Nursing Facility Administrator, the Program Officer 1 is responsible for planning, organizing and coordinating a program for recruitment, orientation and the operation of the volunteer program for the Nevada State Veterans Home. In addition, it oversees the volunteer program for the Department of Veterans Services. Developing and monitoring a program budget and overseeing the facility gift shop is included in the job duties. The incumbent will represent the department at public functions and make formal presentation briefings on the volunteer services provided by the department. This position requires working occasional weekends and varied hours. Experience in managing a volunteer program is preferred. This position is located in Boulder City.
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Graduation from an accredited four year college or university in public administration or a related field; OR graduation from high school or the equivalent and four years of previous experience either performing or assisting in the planning, coordinating or administering of a program; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.

A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.
The Examination
