The Position
Wildlife Staff Specialists perform program planning, analysis and evaluation; draft proposed legislation, policies, procedures and regulations related to wildlife management programs and activities throughout the State.
The position acts under direct supervision of the Game Division Administrator to develop, implement, and monitor predator management programs. Coordination with field staff, Wildlife Services (or other qualified contractors), fellow staff specialists, and other interested stakeholders is essential. All aspects of project design, implementation, monitoring, analysis, and presentation will be required. This position is responsible for compiling and annual list of proposed projects and also responsible for summarizing annual predator management activities in an annual summary project results and expenditures for a program of approximately $400k annually. This position requires experience in the application of predator control for the protection or enhancement of wildlife populations. Primary beneficiaries of predator management activities include but are not limited to mule deer, bighorn sheep, and sage grouse. Those with experience in coyote, mountain lion, or raven predation as they relate to mule deer, bighorn, sage-grouse respectively are encouraged to apply.

To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in wildlife management, biology or closely related field and four years of professional experience that included organizing, planning and completing wildlife management studies, writing technical reports and preparing species or land use management plans and recommendations related to wildlife management; OR one year as a Biologist III in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Requirements
    A valid drivers license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
Additional Position Criteria
    This position requires experience in the application of predator control for the protection or enhancement of wildlife populations. Primary beneficiaries of predator management activities include but are not limited to mule deer, bighorn sheep, and sage grouse.
The Examination
WILDLIFE STAFF SPECIALIST, Predation Game Management
The exam will consist of a rating of training and experience weighted 100%. It is essential that applications include extensively detailed information with time frames regarding education and experience. Your score will be based on the information provided in your application and your responses to the questions asked below. If there are several parts to a question, answer each part separately. Along with each answer, identify the position(s) and/or training (as described in your application) where you gained the background asked for in the question. 5) Please detail your predator management experience in the following areas:. A) designing the project; B) implementing the project; C) summarizing/reporting on the project; D) presenting the project.
6) Please detail your database management experience including the computer software used.
7) Please describe your experience developing/compiling quarterly and/or annual reports including presentation to: A) agency management; B) governmental committees/boards.
8) Please describe your grants management experience in the following areas: A) writing agreements and grants; B) working with grantees; C) monitoring grant costs and budgets.
9) Please detail your experience reviewing technical reports.
10) Please describe your professional experience communicating and coordinating with various Sportsmen's organizations.
11) Please describe your professional experience communicating and coordinating with governmental agencies. Please include where the experience was obtained and timeframes.
