The Position
Licensed Practical Nurses provide general or psychiatric practical nursing care in accordance with the authorized scope of practice specified in the Nurse Practice Act.
Incumbents perform in a trainee capacity and acquire the knowledge, skills and abilities required in this occupation.
Within the Nevada State Veterans Home, the Licensed Practical Nurse Trainee function as a team member providing direct nursing care to residents on an assigned neighborhood. In addition, this position administers medication and completes therapeutic procedures; provides specialized nursing wound care to residents; participates in the MDS/Care Planning process; communicates with neighborhood staff, residents, families, visitors and members of the Nevada State Veterans Home treatment team. This is a 24 hour facility; therefore, applicants may be required to work shift work. Work experience in a skilled nursing facility is preferred. This position is located in Boulder City, Nevada.

To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Current license to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse in the State of Nevada.
Special Requirements
    CPR certification is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continued employment.
    Intravenous (IV) certification is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
    A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.
    Pursuant to NRS 284.4066, this position has been identified as affecting public safety. Persons offered employment in this position must submit to a pre-employment screening for controlled substances.
