Community Health Nurses provide professional nursing services requiring licensure as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) and/or Registered Nurse in clinics, homes, schools and other community settings.
Incumbents function as first-line supervisors who train, supervise and evaluate the performance of assigned staff; assign and review work; and initiate disciplinary action.
This position is based at the Dayton Clinic and requires over 50% travel time to other surrounding rural clinics. The position description is as follows: Able to work independently to provide: 1. Immunizations according to ACIP guidelines, 2. Well Child exams, 3. Developmental Screenings, 4. Family planning services including collaboration with other APRN's and RN's for provision of family planning services, 5. WIC hemoglobins, 6. Management of TB screenings and positive reactive patients, 7. Fluoride varnish applications, 8. Lead Screenings on children 1-6 years of age, 9. Behavioral Health lab collection and EKG's, 10. STD services including blood draws and microscopy, and 11. General duties as assigned. NOTE: Per NV State Legislature, State of Nevada Classified employees are subject to mandatory unpaid furlough requirement of 48 hours per year (part-time prorated) through June 30, 2015.
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Nevada, certification as a Women's Health Nurse Practitioner or Family Practice Nurse Practitioner, and four years of professional community health nursing experience, one of which must have included supervisory responsibilities.
Special Notes
A Bachelor's degree in nursing is equivalent to a diploma or associate's degree in nursing and one year of experience.
This position may require incumbent to work nights, weekends and/or holidays. This position may be subject to call back or standby.
Special Requirements
A valid driver's license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
Certification as a communicable disease clinician is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items.
Pursuant to NRS 284.4066, this position has been identified as affecting public safety. Persons offered employment in this position must submit to a pre-employment screening for controlled substances.
