The Position
Maintenance Repair Workers perform semi-skilled work in the building and mechanical trades to repair, construct, and/or maintain buildings, facilities and equipment. 
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform advanced-level work and may provide work direction and training to others.
Basic plumbing, carpentry, painting, mechanical, grounds maintenance, and occasional custodial duties will be required. The incumbent will assist skilled craftsmen, as well as work independently. PLEASE NOTE: This position is located at the Shadow Lane Campus and hours are Monday through Friday from 8:30AM to 5:30PM. Incumbent may be required to occassionally work weekends and evenings to meet customer demands. *Per the Nevada State Legislature, classified positions are subject to six (6) mandatory unpaid furlough days through June 30, 2014. **UNLV is an Affirmative Action/Equal Opportunity educator and employer committed to excellence through diversity.

To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Two years of experience performing semi-skilled work in a relevant building and/or mechanical trade; OR one year of experience as a Maintenance Repair Worker II in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Notes
    As part of the hiring process, applicants for positions in the Nevada System of Higher Education may be required to demonstrate the ability to perform job-related tasks.
Special Requirements
    A valid Class C Nevada driver's license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
Skills Required
    The chosen candidate must receive Asbestos Abatement Certification within one year of hire as a contingency of employment.
