JOB INFORMATION
Work Type: Permanent, full time vacancies as they may occur
in this geographical location.
Child Care Workers assist in preschool programs designed for care of children and for stimulation of their social, emotional, academic, and physical development.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.
***THIS RECRUITMENT MAY CLOSE PRIOR TO THE ANNOUNCED CLOSING DATE BASED ON VOLUME OF APPLICATIONS RECEIVED*** The University of Nevada Las Vegas (UNLV) University Preschool located at the Lynn Bennett Early Childhood Education Center is seeking a Child Care Worker II. This position will serve as the Head infant/toddler teacher, with the ability to change position to preschool age if needed, working in an inclusive quality environment and curriculum while supporting the preschool mission and philosophy. Responsibilities include: providing a safe and healthy learning environment, planning, implementing curriculum and assessment, collaboration with co-teachers and families, individualizing care and instruction, training support staff, and ability to fulfill NAEYC accreditation requirements. This is an intermittent position so the work schedule may vary but may work up to 40 hours per week.

In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
One year of experience as a Child Care Worker I; OR graduation from high school and two years of experience working with small children in a preschool setting.

A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items.
A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.

Skills Required
A health statement for employment is required. Must be able to work indoors/outdoors on a regular basis; ability to lift up to 50lbs, bending,
lifting, standing, sitting on floor, carrying children and moving materials/equipment as needed.
Must obtain and maintain a Sherriff's card prior to beginning employment. Person is responsible for the costs associated obtaining a Sherriff's card.
Must provide written evidence of testing negative for tuberculosis prior to beginning employment. Person is responsible for the costs associated with a tuberculosis test.
Must obtain and maintain CPR and FIRST AID Certification and successful completion of mandatory training available through the Nevada Registry within 90 days of employment.

The Examination
