The Position
Auditors conduct audits on accounts, records, activities, operations and/or internal controls of individuals, business organizations, State agencies or other government jurisdictions subject to State taxation or regulation to ensure compliance with State and federal rules and regulations and legal requirements and/or proper safeguarding of agency funds.
This position performs specialized auditing duties for the Medical Marijuana Program. Under the immediate or general supervision of the Compliance Chief or other designee, conducts regulatory compliance in accordance with generally accepted auditing standards. Performs internal controls and procedural audits of medical marijuana establishments and determines if they conform to minimum internal controls standards as defined by the Medical Marijuana Program and State statute and regulations. Applies statutes and regulations to the business operations of a medical marijuana establishment, determines compliance with such, and works as a team with regulatory staff to document evidence in support of law violations. NOTE: Per NV State Legislature, State of Nevada Classified employees are subject to mandatory unpaid furlough requirement of 48 hours per year (part-time prorated) through June 30, 2015.

To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Graduation from an accredited four year college or university in accounting and one year of professional level auditing or accounting experience involving analyzing financial information and making recommendations based upon that analysis; OR one year of experience comparable to an Auditor I in Nevada State service; OR graduation from high school or an equivalent education and four years of auditing or accounting experience involving analyzing financial information and making recommendations based upon that analysis and six semester credit hours in accounting from an accredited institution; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience. NOTE: Minimal post-secondary coursework of six units in beginning accounting is required.

Special Requirements
    A valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continued employment.
    A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items.
    A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.
    This position requires moderate travel.
    Transcripts of college credits are required.
    As a condition of employment, pursuant to NRS 284.4066, this position has been identified as affecting public safety.  Persons offered employment in this position must first submit to a pre-employment screening test for controlled substances.
