The Position
Community Based Instructors conduct a variety of outreach educational programs to individuals and/or groups of people in a variety of community settings, which may include schools, civic and senior centers, camps and other meeting facilities.
--The University of Nevada Cooperative Extension (UNCE) is recruiting for a Community Based Instructor 3. This position is located in Fallon, NV and will travel throughout Churchill County. The incumbent will implement and supervise 4-H programs throughout Churchill County; recruit youth; recruit and train volunteer leaders; and provide leader advisement, management, and retention. Additionally, the incumbent will collaborate with UNCE staff, faculty, and county staff; monitor and evaluate in-school and after-school youth programming and curriculum development; and develop after-school educators and care providers.
----The typical work schedule is Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm with some weekends and evenings; this is subject to change based on organizational needs. Pursuant to Nevada Legislature, State of Nevada Classified employees are subject to a mandatory unpaid furlough requirement of six days (part-time prorated) per fiscal year effective July 1, 2013. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Graduation from high school or equivalent education and three years of relevant work experience in areas such as agriculture, horticulture, community development, health and nutrition, human and family development, and natural resources in urban and rural areas; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.

    As part of the hiring process, applicants for positions in the Nevada System of Higher Education may be required to demonstrate the ability to perform job-related tasks.
Special Requirements
    A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.
Additional Position Criteria
    This position requires supervisory experience.
    This position requires experience working with youth.
    This position requires experience with curriculum development and instruction.
    This position requires having reliable transportation and a valid driver's license at the time of appointment and as a condition of continued employment.
    This position requires working occasional weekends and evenings.
    This position requires experience using Microsoft Word.
    This position requires experience using Microsoft Excel.
