Information Technology (IT) Technicians install, configure, monitor, and maintain networks and monitor and maintain help desk user support or mainframe and server operations.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.
Incumbents perform in a trainee capacity and acquire the knowledge, skills and abilities required in this occupation OR; Incumbents perform basic tasks or elements of the job not requiring the additional knowledge, skills and abilities to perform at the next level in the series.
This position is in Enterprise IT Services within the Department of Administration. The position supports all of Nevada and is based in Carson City. This position performs essential Helpdesk functions for Department of Administration and the Department of Public Safety, as well as all law enforcement agencies throughout the state. They answer callers and provide one stop shopping for users supporting desktop, hardware and software issues. Under supervision, they manage, maintain, and monitor all control point functions for the Department of Public Safety, the distribution of all points bulletins and other information vital to officer safety.
This position is responsible for the remote installation, configuring, monitoring, and maintenance of desktop PCs, laptops, and peripherals across the entire state of Nevada. Graduation from high school or equivalent and three years of experience utilizing the fundamentals of typical computer systems, operating systems, applications, and peripherals, one year of which must have included IT work experience in a user support role; OR one year of relevant experience as an IT Technician I in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience. |
|
Education above the high school level may be substituted for experience on the basis of 30 semester credits equals six months of the required experience up to a maximum of one year of the required experience. |
|
A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items. |
|
Working evenings, weekends, and/or holidays is required. |
|
Statewide travel is required.
|
