JOB INFORMATION
Work Type: Permanent, full time vacancies as they may occur
in this geographical location.
Equipment Mechanics maintain, repair, and modify fleet equipment comprised of a variety of light, medium, and heavy automotive and maintenance equipment, landscape equipment, computerized testing equipment, and diesel-fueled electric power generators.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform advanced-level work and may provide work direction and training to others.
This position provides mechanical services to the Nevada Division of Forestry fire and forest resource management fleet for the Western Region. Manages the Eastlake shop in regards to budget and purchasing of parts and materials. Due to the emergency service mission of fire districts the incumbent may be asked to work extended shifts, holidays and/or weekends.
This position requires the incumbent to pass the moderate pack test which consists of a 2 mile walk, carrying a 25 pound pack under 30 minutes.
Computer and database experience is a plus.

In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Completion of a recognized automotive/equipment repair apprenticeship program followed by one year of journey level experience; OR one year of experience as Equipment Mechanic II in Nevada State Service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Requirements
A valid driver's license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continued employment.
Incumbent is required to furnish their own mechanic's tools.
A Class A or B commercial driver's license is required at time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
