The Position
Program Officers administer a program or major component of a program by planning, coordinating and managing services and activities in accordance with legal and regulatory requirements and established program performance standards and objectives.
Western Nevada College is recruiting for a full-time Program Officer 1 for Admissions & Records. The incumbent will serve as the back-up for the Director; enforce, clarify, revise, and establish policy and procedures to maintain institutional integrity; research and resolve issues; produce and maintain training manuals for PeopleSoft; train staff; manage budgets and prepare reports; process travel claims; oversee records management; audit files; provide support to Faculty for class and grade rosters, class schedules, and class course permissions; evaluate, determine, and post transfer credit rules; provide leadership for day-to-day operations; supervise classified, work-study, and temporary employees; prepare evaluations; ensure FERPA regulations are followed; assist students with questions regarding enrollment, registration, and other Admissions & Records functions, and other duties as assigned. Additionally, this position will provide technical assistance troubleshooting technical difficulties for staff and students and test and troubleshoot new procedures, modifications, and upgrades. Applicants must have excellent technical skills, be detailed orientated, and be able to manage multiple tasks.
-- The typical work schedule is Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm; this is subject to change based on organizational needs. Pursuant to Nevada Legislature, State of Nevada Classified employees are subject to a mandatory unpaid furlough requirement of six days (part-time prorated) per fiscal year effective July 1, 2013. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Graduation from an accredited four year college or university in public administration or a related field; OR graduation from high school or the equivalent and four years of previous experience either performing or assisting in the planning, coordinating or administering of a program; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.

    As part of the hiring process, applicants for positions in the Nevada System of Higher Education may be required to demonstrate the ability to perform job-related tasks.
Special Requirements
    A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.
Additional Position Criteria
    This position requires experience coordinating budgetary activities including overseeing accounts and assisting with annual budget development and reporting.
    This position requires having excellent customer services skills.
    This position requires experience using Microsoft Excel in a business setting.
    This position requires experience using Microsoft Word in a business setting.
