The Position
Mental Health Counselors provide counseling, case management, direct clinical services, community and home based services, and behavioral and human services to mentally ill, developmentally disabled and/or emotionally disturbed clients in an outpatient, residential, community or similar setting.
Incumbents perform in a trainee capacity and acquire the knowledge, skills and abilities required in this occupation. Mental Health Counselors provide counseling, case management, direct clinical services, community and home based services, and behavioral and human services to mentally ill, developmentally disabled and/or emotionally disturbed clients in an outpatient, residential, community or similar setting. Southern Nevada Adult Mental Health Services (SNAMHS) Rural Clinics currently has an opening for a Mental Health Counselor in our Community Mental Health Center located in Mesquite, Nevada. Our Agency's mission is to help clients with mental illness improve their quality of life. Through a team approach, we provide innovative mental health services for the Southern Nevada communities we serve. Incumbents perform in a trainee capacity and acquire the knowledge, skills and abilities required in this occupation. Provide professional, direct patient care to mentally ill adults, youth and their families. Incumbents will provide individual, family and group therapy to mental health clients of all ages, complete screenings for prospective clients, conduct intakes for new clients and provide clinical evaluations. Direct clinical services are provided in an outpatient clinic, as well as in the community and the clients home. Incumbents work directly with a team of clinicians, psychiatric nurses, and other mental health professionals in an outpatient setting. Must be able to obtain and maintain a Nevada license as an LCSW/LPC/MFT/PhD within 1 year of hire date. The positions are full time with an expected work schedule of 8am-5pm Monday through Friday (Sat/Sun off). Incumbents will be working an innovative variable schedule with overtime after 40 hours per week. National Health Service Corps Loan Repayment Program available in our NHSC approved sites upon licensure and the open enrollment period. As a condition for continued employment the incumbent must complete and maintain all position and agency required training and certifications, including respirator fit testing and Certification in Conflict Prevention and Response Training, which the agency provides.

To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Master's degree from an accredited college or university in counseling, marriage and family therapy, psychology, social work or closely related academic field; OR an equivalent combination of education and clinical experience.
Special Notes
    Some positions require specialized training and experience working with specific client populations
Special Requirements
    A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for fingerprinting.
    A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.
