The Position
Professional Engineer Managers plan, coordinate and oversee projects, programs and consultant contracts/agreements and perform licensed professional engineering functions.
Incumbents function as managers who train, supervise and evaluate the performance of subordinates; develop policies and procedures; and allocate staff and resources to accomplish goals and objectives.
This position is located within the Planning Division, Performance Analysis Section, in Carson City. Incumbent manages this section and is responsible for the timeliness and quality of value engineering analyses; conducting benefit/cost analyses of transportation projects and major NDOT programs; performing systems engineering analyses associated with NDOT's strategic goals to meet transportation system objectives through the Department's Performance Measure Program; conducting preliminary analysis of selected innovative technology such as commercial truck operations; performing cost allocation studies; conducting financial forecasts; preparation and publication of NDOT's Performance Measures Plan, Facts and Figures Book, and State Highway Preservation Report. Duties also include managing engineering consultants for special studies, and conducting analysis of proposed legislation.

To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Current licensure as a Professional Engineer (P.E.) and two years of experience performing professional engineering work in a supervisory or responsible project charge capacity; OR one year of experience as a Supervisor, Professional Engineer in Nevada State service; OR licensure and two years of experience as a Staff II or Supervisor II, Associate Engineer in Nevada State service; OR licensure and an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Notes
    A person that is a licensed Professional Engineer in another state must become licensed as a Professional Engineer in Nevada within six months of appointment as a condition of continuing employment.
Special Requirements
    Registration as a Professional Engineer is required at the time of employment and as a condition of continuing employment.
Additional Position Criteria
    Experience developing and presenting project/program information to governing agencies and the public is required for this position. This experience must also be reflected in your employment history.
