The Position
DMV Service Technicians provide customer services associated with driver's license, vehicle, and business occupational licensing programs.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform advanced-level work and may provide work direction and training to others.Incumbents function as first-line supervisors who train, supervise and evaluate the performance of assigned staff; assign and review work; and initiate disciplinary action.
This position is located in our Laughlin office within the DMV Field Services Division. The DMV Services Technician 4 conducts commercial and/or non-commercial driving skills tests including problem and high risk drivers; drivers with physical/mental disabilities and for non and/or limited English speaking customers; determine applicant's ability to safely operate a vehicle; review test results with applicant; counsel drivers, refer to driver improvement course and apply restriction to privilege when appropriate. Additional duties may include process and issue of driver's vehicle titles and registration; also balance and maintain office funds.
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Graduation from high school or equivalent education and four years of varied and increasingly responsible experience related to registration/titling of motor vehicles or licensing motor vehicle operators, one year of which was equivalent to a DMV Services Technician III performing a variety of transactions involving standard driver's license and/or registration transactions, vehicle ownership transactions, issuance of duplicate driver's license and/or registration, and assisting new residents in obtaining driver's license/registration; OR one year of experience as a DMV Services Technician III in Nevada State service; OR two years of experience as a DMV Services Technician II in a relevant program-specific area.

Pursuant to NRS 293-5045, a voter registration agency shall not knowingly employ a person whose duties will include the registration of voters if the person has been convicted of a felony involving theft or fraud.
Some positions are required to undergo yearly criminal background and fingerprinting checks at the expense of the employee.
Special Requirements
A valid driver's license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continued employment.
A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items.
A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.
Skills Required
Must type a minimum of 30 words per minute. A typing certificate (issued within the last six (6) months) MUST be attached to your application and must verify your net typing speed of at least 30 words per minute in a five (5) minute test. This typing certificate may be attained through any NV Job Connect Office at no charge or through any staffing agency for a minimal fee. Typing certificate or agency letterhead verification must have been completed within the last six (6) months. No online typing tests will be accepted.
