The Position
Accounting Assistants perform clerical accounting work in the maintenance of accounts and accounting records for State agencies.
--The University of Nevada, Reno is recruiting for a part-time Accounting Assistant 3 for College of Liberal Arts. The incumbent will be responsible for account maintenance including posting, reconciles, reports, track encumbrances; leave record keeper; and review and process travel requests and claims.
--The typical work schedule will be between Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm; this is subject to change based on organizational needs. This is a benefited part-time 0.53 FTE position. Pursuant to Nevada Legislature, State of Nevada Classified employees are subject to a mandatory unpaid furlough requirement of six days (part-time prorated) per fiscal year effective July 1, 2013. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Graduation from high school or equivalent education and three years of progressively responsible clerical accounting experience which included duties such as responsibility for accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll and/or other accounting data; setting up computer spreadsheets to record, track, manipulate and report data; researching and interpreting financial data to prepare reports and respond to budget and accounts related inquiries; and reconciling accounts; OR one year as an Accounting Assistant II in Nevada State service which included clerical accounting duties as described above; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Notes
    As part of the hiring process, applicants for positions in the Nevada System of Higher Education may be required to demonstrate the ability to perform job-related tasks.
Special Requirements
    A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.
Additional Position Criteria
    This position requires account reconciliation experience.
    This position requires intermediate experience using Microsoft Excel in a business setting.
    This position requires intermediate experience using Microsoft Word in a business setting.
The Examination
If there are five or fewer qualified applicants, the exam will consist of an application evaluation. (This statement does not apply for Until Recruitment Needs are Satisfied (URS) announcements).
CLERICAL SUPPORT EXAM
The exam will consist of a written weighted 100%.

Qualified applicants will be contacted by the hiring agency for interview.
