The Position
Registered Dietitians provide nutritional care and medical nutrition therapy for individuals and groups in institutional, clinic, research, community and residential settings and provide nutrition education to clients/patients and families in accordance with accepted professional practices and standards.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.
This position is located at Desert Willow Treatment Center (DWTC), a psychiatric inpatient hospital serving adolescents in Las Vegas, Nevada. The dietitian provides professional nutritional services to severely emotionally disturbed youths ages 12 to 18 years. The dietitian is part of the treatment team. Duties include assessing the nutritional status of patients to identify patients who may require special dietary services, providing nutritional counseling and education and monitoring all patients height, weight, BMI and lab results. The dietitian performs weekly nutritional groups on each patient unit. The dietitian ensures compliance with the National School Lunch, School Breakfast and Afterschool Snack Programs, including completing monthly reports and claims. The dietitian is the liaison between DWTC and the vendor food service management company and assists the vendor's dietitian in meeting NSLP guidelines. A food tray is evaluated weekly for compliance with the guidelines. The dietitian conducts patient food satisfaction surveys. The dietitian participates as a member of the Joint Commission Continuous Quality Improvement Teams.

To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Current certification by the Commission on Dietetic Registration and one year of professional experience as a Registered Dietitian.
Special Requirements
    A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.
