The Position
Psychiatric Caseworkers monitor the treatment and progress of mentally ill or developmentally disabled clients, perform day treatment and psychosocial rehabilitation activities, and coordinate discharge and aftercare services, in an outpatient, inpatient, clinic, residential, treatment center, client's home and other community settings.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training. This position supports SOUTHERN NEVADA ADULT MENTAL HEALTH SERVICES (SNAMHS) in the Mesquite Outpatient Clinic. Agency positions may be assigned to any SNAMHS work location, initially this position is anticipated to be assigned and located in Mesquite, 61 N Willow, Suite 4, Mesquite, NV 89027. The position requires crises intervention techniques, documenting client progress, assessing client needs and resources available; case management practices and procedures; laws governing abuse and neglect of clients; treatment planning and implementation; educating clients and their families on issues of daily living, coping skills and employment. The position will coordinate and obtain community services for clients, actively participate on the treatment team, develop treatment plans, and provide crisis intervention. Emphasis on utilizing the recovery model, formulating individualized treatment plans that leads to self-sufficiency. National Health Service Corps Loan Repayment Program available in our NHSC approved sites. This is a full time position, Monday-Friday, 8:00am - 5:00pm. Incumbents will be working an innovative variable schedule with overtime after 40 hours per week. Our Agency's mission is to help adults, adolescents and children with mental illness improve their quality of life. Through a team approach, we provide innovative inpatient and outpatient mental health services for the Southern Nevada community. Some of the valuable services we provide include Inpatient Services, Mobile Crises, Outpatient Counseling, Service Coordination, Intensive Service Coordination, Medication Clinic, Residential Support Programs, Mental Health Court, Consumer Advocacy and Programs for Assertive Community Treatment (PACT) teams. Inpatient services are provided through Rawson-Neal Psychiatric Hospital. Outpatient services are provided through three mental health clinics located throughout the community and four Rural Mental Health Centers. We are accredited by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). As condition for continued employment must complete and maintain all position and agency required trainings and certifications, including respirator fit testing and Certification in Conflict Prevention and Response Training which the agency provides.

To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in social work, psychology, or closely related human services field and two years of experience in a mental health or mental retardation setting, one year of which must have included professional casework experience providing psychosocial rehabilitation services for a caseload consisting predominantly of individuals with mental illness or developmental disabilities; OR one year as a Psychiatric Caseworker I in Nevada State Service; OR an equivalent combination of experience and education above the bachelor's degree level.
Special Requirements
    A valid driver's license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
    A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items.
    A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.
