The Position
Consumer Services Assistants assist professional staff by performing advocacy and service improvement activities on behalf of clients in mental health service agencies.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.
Consumer Services Assistants (CSA) are people with mental illness who are employed to provide advocacy, peer support, and modeling of recovery-oriented behaviors for other consumers at Northern Nevada Adult Mental Health (NNAMHS). CSA's provide a number of supportive services to consumers including staffing the Peer Resource Center, making home visits, and providing peer mentoring support groups. CSA's are certified as peer mentors; act as liaison among staff, community and consumers; model positive behaviors; and provide powerful affirmation that recovery is possible. Currently NNAMHS is seeking a Consumer Services Assistant who would be assigned a variety of duties, including some duties in the Peer Resource Center. The best candidate will be a team player with positive attitude and willingness to share their own recovery success with NNAMHS consumers. CSA's are willing to work as a team to support consumers, fellow CSA's, fellow employees and the agency. Per NV State Legislature, State of Nevada Classified employees are subject to a mandatory unpaid furlough requirement of 48 hours per year (part-time prorated) through June 30, 2015.
