Auditors conduct audits on accounts, records, activities, operations and/or internal controls of individuals, business organizations, State agencies or other government jurisdictions subject to State taxation or regulation to ensure compliance with State and federal rules and regulations and legal requirements and/or proper safeguarding of agency funds.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.
This position is a contract auditor in the Fiscal Integrity Unit of DHCFP and may require as much as 25% of travel. This position will conduct compliance, financial and performance audits of major DHCFP contractors under the general direction of a lead auditor. The major DHCFP contractors include two managed care organizations, the fiscal agent, a transportation broker and a care management organization. This position will also be responsible for overseeing Patient trust Fund audits. Audits must be performed in accordance with established guidelines, objectives, protocols and timelines. Other duties include, but are not limited to: review of contracts and contractor records; interpretation of state and federal regulations; analysis of current practices; interviews of key contractor staff; thorough documentation of audit and review findings; and development of audit and other reports.
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Graduation from an accredited four year college or university in accounting and one year of professional level auditing or accounting experience involving analyzing financial information and making recommendations based upon that analysis; OR one year of experience comparable to an Auditor I in Nevada State service; OR graduation from high school or an equivalent education and four years of auditing or accounting experience involving analyzing financial information and making recommendations based upon that analysis and six semester credit hours in accounting from an accredited institution; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience. NOTE: Minimal post-secondary coursework of six units in beginning accounting is required.

A valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continued employment.
A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items.
A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.
This position requires moderate travel.
Transcripts of college credits are required.
