The Position
Program Officers perform administrative work in planning, coordinating, and directing a comprehensive program or program function for a specific clientele.
--The University of Nevada, Reno is recruiting for a Program Officer 1 for the Office of Admissions and Records. The incumbent will log and process exceptions, corrections, and substitutions for degree requirements; work with graduation staff and college advisement officers to certify degree completion; ensure the general catalog and information system accurately represent degree requirements; train administrative staff and advisors; provide support to students, staff, and advisors; ensure quality assurance; and participate in testing student information and degree audit applications and provide recommendations.
--The typical work schedule is Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm; this is subject to change based on organizational needs. Pursuant to Nevada Legislature, State of Nevada Classified employees are subject to a mandatory unpaid furlough requirement of six days (part-time prorated) per fiscal year effective July 1, 2013. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Graduation from an accredited four year college or university in public administration or a related field; OR graduation from high school or the equivalent and four years of previous experience either performing or assisting in the planning, coordinating or administering of a program; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Notes
    As part of the hiring process, applicants for positions in the Nevada System of Higher Education may be required to demonstrate the ability to perform job-related tasks.
Special Requirements
    A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.
Additional Position Experience
    This position requires experience managing confidential files.
    This position requires experience in a position where data entered is subject to internal and external audit processing.
    This position requires having strong problem solving skills.
    This position requires experience using Microsoft Word in a business setting.
    This position requires experience using Microsoft Excel in a business setting.
    This position requires experience using interactive database business management software (example: Oracle).
The Examination
