The Position
Licensed Psychologists provide psychological testing, evaluation, psychotherapy, counseling, and consultation to clients or inmates in residential, inpatient and outpatient settings, at a mental health, intellectual disabilities, or correctional facility, or in other settings where psychological services are provided.
This recruitment is for two vacancies at Desert Regional Center (DRC) in Las Vegas working in DRC's psychology department. One vacancy is for a psychologist in the Adult Community Services program and one vacancy is for a psychologist in the Residential Intermediate Care Facility/Intellectual Disabilities (ICF/ID) program. The incumbents will work with individuals with intellectual/ developmental disabilities and related conditions; such as, Autism, Seizures, Cerebral Palsy and Traumatic Brain Injury. In many cases the individuals served also have co-occurring mental health diagnosis. The incumbents are responsible for psychological testing and adaptive functioning assessments to determine who is eligible for DRC services including the (ICF/ID) level of care services. Incumbents will write comprehensive reports which will record findings, observations, and recommendations for treatment plans used to serve the individual. Incumbents will provide psychological consultation services for individuals, families and the clinical team for the purpose of making treatment recommendations. The incumbents will oversee the development of behavioral support plans for indentified individuals served and support staff or families can follow to improve adaptive skills and mitigate challenging behavior. The incumbents will provide individual/group counseling or psychotherapy to individuals served to help them function more independently in their living situation. The incumbents will provide crisis management and as requested, serves on committees such as the Oversight Committee on Physical Intervention and Behavior Intervention Committee. The incumbents will complete projects as directed by Administration that relate to psychology services and attend court as requested on behalf of the agency or individuals when psychological information is required. The incumbents also participate in team and clinical meetings to review the status of individuals served.

To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    One year of post-doctoral experience in providing psychological services in an inpatient, outpatient or residential setting.
Special Requirements
    Licensed Psychologist I's must possess current licensure as a Psychologist issued by the State of Nevada Board of Psychological Examiners at the time of appointment and maintain licensure as a condition of continuing employment.
    Working evenings, weekends, and/or holidays is required.
    A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items.
    A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.
    Requires a valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility at the time of appointment and for continuing employment.
