The Position
Information Technology (IT) Professionals analyze, develop, implement, maintain, and modify computer operations, systems, networks, databases, applications, and/or information security. Incumbents may perform duties in one or more IT specialization areas depending on the needs of the agency.
The Aging and Disabilities Services Division IT unit has an opening for an ITP II in the Application Development and Support Group. The position will be located in Las Vegas, Reno or Carson City depending on the most qualified applicant. The Application Development and Support group provides database administration and programming development/support for multiple web-based electronic health information systems statewide that are implemented in both classic ASP (Active Server Pages) and ASP.NET. The incumbent must have experience with MS SQL Server including installation, implementation and maintenance and experience with SQL Server Management Studio. Knowledge will be beneficial with Business Intelligence Development Studio and SQL Server Integration Services to help 1) develop new information-gathering portals, 2) integrate information from multiple systems into a single reporting platform, 3) perform and develop new monthly jobs, and 4) ensure disaster recovery. The incumbent must also have experience with .NET programming using Visual Studio. Knowledge will also be beneficial with Crystal Reports and SharePoint, Ektron, IIS (Internet Information Services), classic ASP as well as ODBC. Experience with MS Reporting Services will be useful. The Aging and Disabilities Services Division employs more than 800 staff in numerous agencies located statewide. The mission of the Division is to provide services that allow all of Nevada's elders, adults and children with disabilities to live independent, meaningful, and dignified lives in the most integrated setting appropriate to their needs.

To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in computer science, management information systems, or closely related field and two years of progressively responsible professional IT experience relevant to the duties of the position which may include computer operations, systems administration, network administration, database administration, and/or applications analysis and development; OR two years of experience as an IT Professional I in Nevada State service; OR four years of relevant technical experience as an IT Technician IV or above in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Requirements
    A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items.
    This position is subject to call-out or call-back.
    Statewide travel is required.
    Requires a valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility at the time of appointment and for continuing employment.
Additional Position Criteria
    Experience with .NET programming using Visual Studio.
    Experience administering MS SQL Server including implementation and maintenance.
    Experience with SQL Server Management Studio.
The Examination

The exam will consist of an application evaluation. It is essential that applications include detailed information with time frames regarding education and experience. The most qualified applicants will be contacted by the hiring agency for interview. The hiring agency may require specific skills related testing as part of the interviewing process.

1) Describe, in detail, your experience with SQL Server Administration (backup and restoration of databases, replication and mirroring). Please also list the techniques you have utilized in performing these data administration tasks and managing data archives.
2) Do you have experience gathering requirements, planning developing and implementing web-based applications in classic ASP and ASP.NET using Visual Studio? Please detail this experience to include where you received it .
3) Do you have any experience working with MS Reporting Services and MS Team Foundation Server? Please describe this experience.
4) Describe any experience you have developing stored procedures using MS SQL Server Management Studio and DTS or SISS packages using MS Business Intelligence.
