Education Programs Directors, Supervisors, and Professionals assist and foster the growth of early childhood, pre-K, K-12, postsecondary, adult, and related education programs throughout Nevada by providing technical assistance, training, and oversight.
This position will oversee the development and implementation of newly state-funded programs designed to support ELL students in reaching targeted performance outcomes. This position will develop/ revise an application process to access funds, coordinate application reviews and approvals, establish criteria and protocols for needs assessment, conduct program monitoring and evaluation, administer fund allocations to school districts, provide technical assistance to schools and districts to ensure resources are used wisely, monitor program implementation for adherence to required criteria, coordinate the collection of all required data, develop and submit reports to identified stakeholders, and coordinate with all other relevant programs and processes to ensure program coherence/ alignment and reduction of burden.
NOTE: Per NV State Legislature, State of Nevada Classified employees are subject to a mandatory unpaid furlough requirement of 48 hours per year (part-time prorated) through June 30, 2015.

An earned Doctoral degree from an accredited college or university in business, economics, education, English, math, nutrition, psychology, science, sociology, statistics, or related field and one year of professional experience in an educational program area; OR Master's degree from an accredited college or university in business, economics, education, English, math, nutrition, psychology, science, sociology, statistics, or related field and two years of professional experience in an educational program area. |

The exam will consist of an application evaluation. It is essential that applications include detailed information with time frames regarding education and experience. The most qualified applicants will be contacted by the hiring agency for interview. The hiring agency may require specific skills related testing as part of the interviewing process. |

1) Describe your experience in coordinating professional development opportunities for teachers, administrators, related service providers, paraprofessionals, parents and others.

2) Describe your experience providing training and/or technical assistance on ELL related state and federal laws as well as evidence-based practices related to the effective instruction of students in pre K-12 education settings.

3) Describe your experience assessing the learning needs and/ or academic performance of students with limited English proficiency and using data to improve outcomes for such students.

4) Describe your experience in working with English language learning needs in educational settings, including any particular areas of expertise or leadership relative to ELL issues.
