The Position
Compliance/Enforcement Investigators perform investigative and enforcement functions to monitor compliance and enforce State and/or federal laws or regulations pertaining to a specific program or regulatory area.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.
Under the direction of the Nevada Taxicab Authority Administrator, this full-time investigator position is responsible for conducting specialized investigations regarding any anonymous, identified or third-party allegation, complaint, or grievance regarding Taxicab Authority employee misconduct or poor performance. The administrative investigator will conduct a thorough, complete, objective investigation of all complaints and/or allegations of misconduct. Investigations may result in referrals to administration for consideration of adverse personnel actions or other executive level responses. Responsibilities include: 1) Conduct investigations and examinations of alleged violations of laws, rules, regulations, policies and procedures. 2) Conduct investigations and examinations regarding allegations of poor employee performance. 3) Identify, contact and interview potential suspect(s), witnesses and complainants. 4) Collect data and conduct field studies. 5) Perform undercover or surveillance work regarding suspected violators. 6) Evaluate, summarize, and document investigative findings. Prepare records, correspondence, and reports. 7) Interact and exchange information with various state and federal law enforcement organizations. 8) Write report findings from results of investigation and submit reports directly to the Taxicab Authority Administrator. 9) Assist in preparing cases for presentations at hearing or in court. Testify and present evidence in administrative hearing and/or judicial proceedings. 10) Maintain confidentiality of investigations. 11) Performs other duties as assigned. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Graduation from a Category II peace officer academy approved by the Nevada Commission on Peace Officers' Standards and Training; a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in criminal justice, police science, psychology, business administration or closely related field; and one year of professional investigative, law enforcement, or program related experience where standard investigative and enforcement techniques were utilized to make program compliance determinations, enforcement of state and federal laws, preparation of detailed reports for the purpose of justifying administrative sanctions, penalties or criminal prosecution. Work experience may be obtained in a law enforcement, investigative, regulatory or comparable setting; OR graduation from a Category II peace officer academy approved by the Nevada Commission on Peace Officers' Standards and Training; graduation from high school or equivalent education; and three years of experience as outlined above; OR one year of experience as a Compliance/Enforcement Investigator I in Nevada State service.
Special Notes
    Incumbents in the Compliance/Enforcement Investigator II, III, Supervisory Compliance/ Enforcement Investigator and Chief Investigator, Compliance/Enforcement classes must maintain Nevada POST Category II certification as a condition of continuing employment.
    Incumbents carry firearms in the performance of their duties and must maintain a quarterly qualifying score of 70 or better with a firearm.
    Incumbents may be required to operate an authorized emergency vehicle.
    This position may be required to work Nights/Weekends/Holidays; Standby/Call Back; Flexible /Rotaing Shifts
Special Requirements
    Pursuant to NRS 284.4066, positions in this series have been identified as affecting public safety. Persons offered employment in these positions must submit to a pre-employment screening for controlled substances.
    A valid driver's license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continued employment.
    Applicants must submit to a background, medical, and psychological evaluation prior to employment.
Additional Position Criteria
    Requires experience conducting administrative and/or internal affairs investigations.
    Requires current POST Category II Certification. Certificate must be attached to application.

The exam will consist of an application evaluation. It is essential that applications include detailed information with time frames regarding education and experience. The most qualified applicants will be contacted by the hiring agency for interview. The hiring agency may require specific skills related testing as part of the interviewing process.

3) Do you have any experience preparing comprehensive documented reports, gathering statements, collecting evidence and testifying in employment disciplinary hearings and/or review board? If so, describe when and where you obtained this experience?
4) Do you have extensive training interviewing suspects and witnesses? If so, what training did you receive and where and when did you obtain it?
5) Do you have investigation experience involving violations of policies and procedures, penalties and prohibitions, governmental laws, rules and regulations which involved extensive fact-finding and reporting activities? If so, describe when and where you obtained this experience?
