JOB INFORMATION
Work Type: Permanent, full time vacancies as they may occur
in this geographical location.
Child Care Workers assist in preschool programs designed for care of children and for stimulation of their social, emotional, academic, and physical development.
This recruitment is a continuous recruitment for NSHE, Reno, (UNR and TMCC) Child Care Worker 2 positions as they become available. These positions provide a quality setting for early childhood care and education. Duties include assuming lead
teacher responsibility for care and education of children in an assigned group; encouraging and facilitating parent/family interaction in center programming; managing the classroom environment; and communicating effectively with other staff.
--The typical work schedule is Monday through Friday varied schedule; this is subject to change based on organizational needs. The position does not provide lay-off rights and is contingent upon funding. Pursuant to Nevada Legislature, State of Nevada Classified employees are subject to a mandatory unpaid furlough requirement of six days (part-time prorated) per fiscal year effective July 1,

In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
One year of experience as a Child Care Worker I; OR graduation from high school and two years of experience working with small children in a preschool setting.

As part of the hiring process, applicants for positions in the Nevada System of Higher Education may be required to demonstrate the ability to perform job-related tasks.
Special Requirements
A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.
Pursuant to NRS 284.4066, this position has been identified as affecting public safety. Persons offered employment in this position must submit to a pre-employment screening for controlled substances.
Additional Position Criteria
This position is contingent upon the availability of funding and is not eligible for layoff rights.
This position requires a valid Nevada driver's license at the time of appointment and maintain as a condition of employment.
This position requires a current CPR and First Aid certifications at the time of hire and as a condition of employment.
At the time of hire, this position requires providing proof of negative results on a tuberculosis test, within the previous two years.
This position requires experience working with children ages 0-5 in a child care or educational setting.
