Mental Health Counselors provide counseling, case management, direct clinical services, community and home based services, and behavioral and human services to mentally ill, developmentally disabled and/or emotionally disturbed clients in an outpatient, residential, community or similar setting.

Incumbents perform in a trainee capacity and acquire the knowledge, skills and abilities required in this occupation.

This position provides assessments, counseling, case management and recommendations for community reintegration services for youth. Reviews and evaluates past and current academic achievement tests, psychological tests, court records, and arrest records of committed youth. Conducts intake interviews; makes judgments as to the appropriate course of treatment; provides specialized counseling individually or in a group setting; maintains caseload documentation of student's progress; provides assessment reports for team reviews; and prepares and maintains reports and records. In order to receive consideration, applicants must indicate their availability to work in the geographical location, i.e., Caliente, Lincoln County, NV. This position is also open at the Mental Health Counselor II level, (see announcement #19786). Hiring may occur at either level.
