The Position
Mortgage Lending Examiners conduct examinations in the Mortgage Lending Division of the Department of Business & Industry. Incumbents examine and analyze the general ledger, assets, liabilities, capital, and internal controls of institutions to ensure compliance with all federal and State laws and regulations and safety and soundness for the public good.
Incumbents function as first-line supervisors who train, supervise and evaluate the performance of assigned staff; assign and review work; and initiate disciplinary action.
The incumbent's primary responsibility is the development, implementation and review of the examination program in his designated area. This position manages the Division's examination functions, with the primary emphasis to determine compliance with Chapters 645A, 645B, 645E, 645F of the Nevada Revised Statutes, and other applicable State and Federal statutes and regulations through the comprehensive review of licensees including mortgage brokers, mortgage bankers, escrow agencies, and covered service providers. Duties of this position include scheduling and tracking of examinations, the review and oversight of examination and report processes, maintenance of examination manuals, development of cases for enforcement actions, preparation of an array of monthly management reports, industry interaction, and the training and supervision of a staff of Mortgage Lending Examiner 2's. An incumbent must demonstrate strong organization skills, the ability to work within stringent time constraints, demonstrate excellent writing and communication skills, be highly efficient in the utilization of Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office programs, display the ability to interpret agency goals and agendas and disseminate such effectively and accurately to staff, exhibit acute attention to detail and the ability to successfully implement policy and procedural changes. NOTE: Per NV State Legislature, State of Nevada Classified employees are subject to a mandatory unpaid furlough requirement of 48 hours per year (part-time prorated) through June 30, 2013.

To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in business administration, accounting, economics, finance, or related discipline and three years of increasingly responsible professional experience in conducting institutional examinations; OR graduation from high school and five years of increasingly responsible professional experience as described above; OR one year of experience as a Mortgage Lending Examiner II in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Special Requirements
    A valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continued employment.
    A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.
    A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for fingerprinting.
The Examination

The exam will consist of a rating of training and experience weighted 100%. It is essential that applications include extensively detailed information with time frames regarding education and experience. Your score will be based on the information provided in your application and your responses to the questions asked below. If there are several parts to a question, answer each part separately. Along with each answer, identify the position(s) and/or training (as described in your application) where you gained the background asked for in the question. 3) Describe your specific experience relating to training, supervising and evaluating the performance of professional staff.
4) Do you have any of the following certifications: Certified Senior Mortgage Examiner, Certified Mortgage Examination Manager or Certified Mortgage Investigator? If yes, please list and provide the date(s) you received the certifications.
5) Describe your specific experience relating to the review and interpretation of company financial statements and auditing and reconciling trust accounts.
6) Describe your specific experience utilizing Microsoft Excel and Access.
