Generally, salaries start at the lowest level of a step 1 and increase with each year of service to the highest level of a step 10.

The Position
Biologists conduct fisheries, wildlife and/or habitat management projects and research studies including data collection, analysis and interpretation; develop and implement project proposals and work plans; prepare recommendations; and participate in public relations activities.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.
This position primarily develops and implements work programs for Federal Aid Grants from the US Bureau of Reclamation Lower Colorado River MSCP Program. Principle duties include managing the captive rearing of the federally endangered razorback suckers at Lake Mead State Fish Hatchery, management of razorback sucker populations in long term rearing ponds at Overton State Wildlife Management Area, and developing/implementing species research studies. This position also implements work activities for the rearing of other ESA listed and State protected native fishes, field monitoring of razorback sucker and other aquatic species, and develops and coordinates grants and project scopes cooperatively with the funding Federal Agency USBR.
This is a full time TERM position and the duration of the position is dependent on continued funding from the US Bureau of Reclamation Lower Colorado River MSCP Program.
This recruitment is open at all 3 levels of Biologist and may be filled at any level. Applicants are encouraged to apply for the level that best matches their education and experience.
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in biology, wildlife management or closely related field and three years of professional wildlife management experience such as conducting research studies including data collection, analysis and interpretation; development and implementation of project proposals for fisheries, wildlife and/or habitat management projects; OR two years of experience as a Biologist II in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
