The Position
Grounds Maintenance Workers perform landscape, garden and greenhouse duties such as planting, pruning, mowing, trimming, watering, fertilizing, weeding and snow and ice prevention and removal; and operate hand and power tools, power mowers, tractor mowers, trenching devices, forklifts and hoists. 
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform advanced-level work and may provide work direction and training to others. THIS RECRUITMENT MAY CLOSE PRIOR TO THE ANNOUNCED CLOSING DATE BASED ON VOLUME OF APPLICATIONS RECEIVED
UNLV, Facilities Maintenance is seeking a Grounds Maintenance Worker 5. This position will maintain the turf, shrub and flower beds; operate hand tools, hand-powered tools, forklifts and light mechanized equipment such as a small tractor, pressure washer, fertilizer applicators; responsible for supervising Grounds Maintenance Worker I & II, training and safety of assigned work area and crews; responsible for unlocking buildings; refuse collection; Zone clean-up and policing; assist in the setup of special events by moving required furnishings and fixtures to and from event sites; identifies plant diseases, undesirable pests and noxious weeds associated with landscaping and applies corrective measures to eradicate them; report irrigation malfunction to appropriate personnel; able to repair moderate irrigation damage; responsible for inventory and maintenance of assigned vehicle and all crew equipment. Insure completion of assigned work orders; and perform special assignments as instructed by Grounds supervisor. The work schedule is Monday through Friday 6:00am - 2:30pm. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Three years of experience providing grounds maintenance service including landscape, garden or greenhouse maintenance; OR one year of experience as a Grounds Maintenance Worker IV in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.

    As part of the hiring process, applicants for positions in the Nevada System of Higher Education may be required to demonstrate the ability to perform job-related tasks.
