JOB INFORMATION
Work Type: Permanent, full time vacancies as they may occur
in this geographical location.
Information Technology (IT) Technicians install, configure, monitor, and maintain networks and monitor and maintain help desk user support or mainframe and server operations.

The University of Nevada Las Vegas (UNLV) Thomas and Mack Center, Computer Services is seeking a IT Technician 2. This position will be responsible for providing technical computer support for the TMC/SBS/Cox and Athletic departments. This position will work in conjunction with department staff, vendors, and campus entities to assure that all computer help desk requests are successfully completed in a timely manner. This position will manage the workload of the part-time support team staff, and be responsible for their hiring, scheduling, and evaluation. This position will also provide regular in-house training classes on software and hardware products used by the department's staff.
This position will work mostly Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. There will be some days when the employee will need to flex their work schedule and cover an evening schedule (until 9:00 p.m.), or they may have to work an occasional Saturday or Sunday. These changes in schedule are to provide computer support services during our special events. This occurs on average 5 times a month. *Per the Nevada State Legislature, classified employees are subject to six (6) mandatory unpaid furlough days. **UNLV is an Affirmative Action/Equal Opportunity educator and employer committed to excellence through diversity.
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Graduation from high school or equivalent and three years of experience utilizing the fundamentals of typical computer systems, operating systems, applications, and peripherals, one year of which must have included IT work experience in a user support role; OR one year of relevant experience as an IT Technician I in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Notes
Education above the high school level may be substituted for experience on the basis of 30 semester credits equals six months of the required experience up to a maximum of one year of the required experience.
As part of the hiring process, applicants for positions in the Nevada System of Higher Education may be required to demonstrate the ability to perform job-related tasks.
