Social Services Managers plan, organize, direct and manage the activities, staff and functions necessary to provide social services in an assigned region or district office and its satellites.
Incumbents function as managers who train, supervise and evaluate the performance of subordinate supervisors; develop policies and procedures; and allocate staff and resources to accomplish goals and objectives.
The Social Services Manager 1 position is responsible for the overall management and operations of the Long-Term Care Ombudsman Program (LTCOP) and serves as Nevada's State Long-Term Care Ombudsman. Federal law requires each state to have a LTCOP headed by a State Long-Term Care Ombudsman (SLTCO). As mandated by the Older Americans Act, the mission of the Long-Term Care Ombudsman Program is to seek resolution of problems and advocate for the rights of residents of long-term care facilities with the goal of enhancing the quality of life and care of residents.
This position is a leadership position responsible for development, interpretation and implementation of program policies and procedures to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations including efficient management oversight of the state's LTCOP. Managers at the level must be able to function independently with general guidance, demonstrate critical thinking skills and serves as a liaison for the Division and the community. This position supervises staff in all four regional offices, evaluates performance of supervisors, implements corrective action, discipline and HR activities, participates in quality management reviews and participates in managing budgets and grants. This position also serves as a member of the National Association of State Long Term Care Ombudsmen Programs which is a non-profit organization composed of state long-term care ombudsmen representing their state programs and may serve on one of their various committees aimed at strengthening LTCOP at the national level.
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in social work, health or social science, public administration or related field and two years of professional experience in the field of social services involving collecting and documenting detailed information, making determinations regarding requests for services, interpreting and applying State and federal regulations, and writing case summaries and reports. In addition, one year of the above experience must have been at the supervisory level; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience. |

Experience working with residents in long-term care settings |

Experience advocating for the needs of a vulnerable population and resolving problems.
