Information Technology (IT) Technicians install, configure, monitor, and maintain networks and monitor and maintain help desk user support or mainframe and server operations.

The position is an IT Technician III working at the Department of Taxation on the Customer Support Team. The successful candidate is self-motivated and able to adapt quickly and professionally in a changing environment. Someone who has experience working at a Helpdesk monitoring, documenting and routing requests in a timely manner is essential. Having experience supporting users in an mixed environment is a plus (Windows XP & Windows 7 ). Having experience using remote assistance tools is helpful. Monitoring essential systems providing reports based on the status of the systems and providing assistance where needed.
NOTE: Per NV State Legislature, State of Nevada Classified employees are subject to a mandatory unpaid furlough requirement of 48 hours per year (part-time prorated) through June 30, 2013.
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Graduation from high school or equivalent and four years of experience utilizing the fundamentals of typical computer systems, operating systems, applications, and peripherals, two years of which must have included IT work experience in a user support role; OR one year of relevant experience as an IT Technician II in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Requirements
A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items.
A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.
This position is subject to call-out or call-back.
Working evenings, weekends, and/or holidays is required.

The exam will consist of an application evaluation. It is essential that applications include detailed information with time frames regarding education and experience. The most qualified applicants will be contacted by the hiring agency for interview. The hiring agency may require specific skills related testing as part of the interviewing process.
