The Position
Psychiatric Caseworkers monitor the treatment and progress of mentally ill or developmentally disabled clients, perform day treatment and psychosocial rehabilitation activities, and coordinate discharge and aftercare services, in an outpatient, inpatient, clinic, residential, treatment center, client's home and other community settings.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.
This position is located at Lake's Crossing Center in Sparks, NV. Lake's Crossing Center's mission is to provide a maximum security facility for the inpatient assessment and treatment of the mentally disordered offender as well as outpatient evaluation and restoration of competency. Incumbent will be responsible for overseeing individuals ordered to a conditional release program. In addition to the above listed types of duties, incumbent will have to work closely with the court system and report regularly on client's progress and/or treatment. In addition, the incumbent will follow individuals who will be, or are living in the community; and assisting in locating resources and monitoring compliance. Duties include visits to their home and/or other appropriate community settings. Incumbent must possess strong written and verbal communication skills.

To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in social work, psychology, or closely related human services field and two years of experience in a mental health or mental retardation setting, one year of which must have included professional casework experience providing psychosocial rehabilitation services for a caseload consisting predominantly of individuals with mental illness or developmental disabilities; OR one year as a Psychiatric Caseworker I in Nevada State Service; OR an equivalent combination of experience and education above the bachelor's degree level.
Special Requirements
    A valid driver's license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
    Working evenings, weekends, and/or holidays is required and is a condition of continuing employment.
    A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items.
Additional Position Criteria
    Experience working in or with the judicial system.
    Experience working with seriously mentally ill individuals.
