Development Technicians fabricate, maintain, calibrate, repair and modify a variety of electrical, mechanical and computerized equipment and computer systems used in support of academic research, data gathering, analysis and teaching; and specialize in two or more technical areas such as electronics, mechanical devices or computer systems.
*This full-time position is located at the University of Nevada, Reno, in the Department of Electrical and Biomedical Engineering. The position is responsible for the application of electronic principles and practices involving the development, engineering, design, fabrication, installation, maintenance, programming and modification of a variety of electronic and computerized equipment and technical infrastructure to meet the teaching and research needs of the department, ensuring complete and accurate documentation of work orders and project designs. This position will assist faculty and students in designing and testing experimental hardware, and maintaining parts and equipment. Duties include repairing, aligning, and programming units, systems, and circuits down to component or module level and troubleshooting electronic and other peripheral equipment. Equipment consists of, but is not limited to, oscilloscopes, digital multi-meters, power supplies, signal generators, microcomputers and microprocessors, diagnostic programs, and various hand and power tools. The incumbent will be responsible for managing the Anechoic chamber, maintaining lab inventory to include purchasing supplies, parts, and equipment; maintaining accurate purchasing and account management documentation; complying with OSHA safety standards and regulatory compliance; and other related duties as assigned. Applicants with a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field are encouraged to apply. Background in computer programming and microprocessor applications is also desired.

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in electrical or mechanical engineering or related field and one year of experience in the fabrication, maintenance, calibration, repair and modification of a variety of electrical, mechanical and/or computerized equipment and computer systems; OR Associate's degree from an accredited college or university in electronics or related field and two years of experience in the fabrication, maintenance, calibration, repair and modification of a variety of electrical, mechanical and/or computerized equipment and computer systems; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience. |
