JOB INFORMATION
Work Type: Permanent, full time vacancies as they may occur
in this geographical location.
Group Supervisors perform duties involving the education, employment, training, treatment, care and custody of juvenile offenders residing within a State Youth Training Center; maintain comprehensive records of assigned youths' program activities; and provide individual guidance pursuant to State or federal laws and regulations.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform advanced-level work and may provide work direction and training to others.

Under limited supervision, incumbents perform the full range of duties in the series concept and partcipate as a member of a treatment team by assisting in the formulation and evaluation of a treatment plan and making recommendations on alternative treatment methods. Additionally, Group Supervisor III's coordinate and oversee group and individual treatment sessions; develop session goals, rules and content using prescribed methods; document group and individual treatment and activities; and prepare individual progress summary reports for review by the treatment team, committing judge, parole officer, legal guardian, and institutional staff.
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Graduation from high school or equivalent education and two years of progressively responsible experience working with youth in a custodial, therapeutic, educational or correctional setting with responsibility for performing vocational assessments, making oral presentations during group sessions and treatment team meetings, and providing vocational and life skills training to juvenile offenders; OR one year as a Group Supervisor II in Nevada State service; OR a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in psychology, social work, criminal justice, education or related field and one year of experience as described above; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Notes
Incumbents must obtain and maintain current first aid certification as a condition of continuing employment.
Special Requirements
A valid driver's license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
Pursuant to NRS 284.4066, this position has been identified as affecting public safety. Persons offered employment in this position must submit to a pre-employment screening for controlled substances.
Working evenings, weekends, and/or holidays is required.
Per NAC 284.317, applicants must be at least 21 years of age at time of appointment.
A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.
The Examination
