Plumbers perform skilled plumbing work to maintain and repair plumbing systems, fixtures and equipment.
-This full-time position is located on the University of Nevada, Reno campus in the Facilities Maintenance Department. Duties include: repair and maintain all fixtures and applications, valves, pumps, faucets, and institutional applications such as medical labs, chemistry labs, and health care facilities both commercial and domestic; follow blueprints and oral instructions for demolition and new installation of commercial applications of lab equipment; recognize and appropriately handle dangerous chemicals during work process; recognize and appropriately handle asbestos, fiberglass, and other harmful airborne insulations; recognize and use proper hand and power tools used in the trade such as pipe machines, power heads, power augers, brazing, low temperature fusing, etc.; maintain general knowledge of structural details such as bearing walls, cutting and drilling of walls and floors, alignment of piping to not interfere with electrical, ducting, and other structural applications; and other related duties. A journeyman's plumbing certificate is required. This position requires a valid Nevada driver's license.
-The work schedule is Monday through Friday, 7am to 3:30 pm with a half hour lunch. Completion of a recognized plumbing apprenticeship program; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience. |

As part of the hiring process, applicants for positions in the Nevada System of Higher Education may be required to demonstrate the ability to perform job-related tasks. |

A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant. |

A current Backflow Prevention Assembly Tester certificate is required within 12 months of employment and as a condition of continued employment. |

This position requires lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds. |
