The Position
Mental Health Counselors provide counseling, case management, direct clinical services, community and home based services, and behavioral and human services to mentally ill, developmentally disabled and/or emotionally disturbed clients in an outpatient, residential, community or similar setting.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.
** THIS RECRUITMENT MAY CLOSE PRIOR TO THE ANNOUNCED CLOSING DATE BASED ON VOLUME OF APPLICATIONS RECEIVED. ** Mental Health Counselors provide counseling, case management, direct clinical services, community and home based services, and behavioral and human services to mentally ill, developmentally disabled and/or emotionally disturbed clients in an outpatient, residential, community or similar setting. Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training. Mental Health Counselors provide counseling, case management, direct clinical services, community and home based services, and behavioral and human services to mentally ill, developmentally disabled and/or emotionally disturbed clients in an outpatient, residential, community or similar setting. Incumbents provide counseling, case management, direct clinical services, and behavioral and human services for assigned caseload. In addition, incumbents will conduct and participate in treatment planning by attending treatment team meetings to determine goals and appropriate strategies for assigned youth. Incumbents also develop and modify treatment plans as necessary, coordinate and integrate services among members of the treatment team, monitor treatment plans and evaluate their effectiveness. Incumbents also review charts, discuss youth treatment at case staffing, make case presentations, make individual and standardized assessments, integrate and analyze information from all available sources, document quality of care and ensure information is available to other members of the treatment team by completing required forms and reports, and maintaining documentation to ensure compliance with established laws, regulations, policies and agency requirements. This position may be located either in Ely, Elko or Tonopah depending on the qualified applicant. Please indicate the location or locations you would be willing to accept.

To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Master's degree from an accredited college or university in counseling, marriage and family therapy, psychology, social work or closely related academic field and two years of post-master's degree professional mental health counseling experience; OR an equivalent combination of education and clinical experience.
Special Notes
    Some positions require specialized training and experience working with specific client populations.
Special Requirements
    Working evenings, weekends, and/or holidays is required.
    A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.
    Moderate travel is required.
    A valid driver's license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
