The salary range indicated in this announcement is based on the Employee/Employer retirement compensation schedule. An employer-only option is available at a reduced salary range. Generally, salaries start at the lowest level of a step 1 and increase with each year of service to the highest level of a step 10.

Maintenance Repair Specialists perform a variety of skilled work in two or more of the mechanical and construction trades in order to repair, construct, and/or maintain buildings, grounds and equipment.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform advanced-level work and may provide work direction and training to others.
The position is located at Spring Valley State Park near Pioche, Nevada. The incumbent performs maintenance duties at this location and at other State Parks located in Southern and Eastern Nevada.
Incumbents perform a variety of skilled work in the buildings and mechanical trades in order to repair, construct and/or maintain buildings, grounds, equipment and vehicles.
Incumbent works under the general direction of the Facility Supervisor III. The position will participate in the area of facility management by planning projects; Inspecting work completed by contractors, provide information regarding facility needs. In addition, this position operates a variety of heavy equipment.
Incumbents may be required to work various hours and shifts including holidays and weekends.
This position requires knowledge of structures, facilities, systems and equipment; national, state and local buildings and fire codes; standard practices, methods, materials, tools and equipment used in the building and mechanical trades. Prepare work orders and specifications. Read and interpret plans and electrical schematics. Plan projects and layout materials, estimate materials and time required to complete projects; operate various testing equipment; Safely perform a variety of skilled work including: plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, welding and HVAC.
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Four years of progressively responsible experience under the supervision of journey level trades persons in two or more of the major building or mechanical trades and one year of journey level experience which included responsibility for performing a variety of repair and maintenance activities, laying out jobs and ordering materials; OR one year of journey level experience as a Maintenance Repair Specialist I in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Incumbents may be required to work extended hours, weekends, and holidays in addition to their normal work schedules.
Special Requirements
A valid Class A commercial driver's license is required within 1 year of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.

Additional Position Criteria
A Water Distribution Operator I certificate issued by the Nevada Division of Environmental Protection will be required and must be obtained within 18 months of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment
