Licensed Psychologists provide psychological testing, evaluation, psychotherapy, counseling, and consultation to clients or inmates in residential, inpatient and outpatient settings, at a mental health, intellectual disabilities, or correctional facility, or in other settings where psychological services are provided.
Incumbents function as first-line supervisors who train, supervise and evaluate the performance of assigned staff; assign and review work; and initiate disciplinary action.
Part time (51%) vacancy at Desert Regional Center (DRC) in Las Vegas. The incumbent will work with individuals who have intellectual/developmental disabilities and related conditions; such as, Autism, Seizures, Cerebral Palsy and Acquired Brain Injury. In many cases the individuals served also have co-occurring mental health diagnosis. The incumbent is responsible for psychological testing and adaptive functioning assessments to determine who is eligible for DRC services including ICF/MR level of care services. Incumbent writes comprehensive reports which will record findings, observations, and recommendations for treatment plans used to serve the individual. Incumbent provides psychological consultation services for individuals, families and the clinical team for the purpose of making treatment recommendations. The incumbent develops programs that individuals served and support staff or families can follow to improve adaptive skills and mitigate challenging behavior. Provides individual counseling or psychotherapy to individuals served to help them cope with their disability and function more independently in the community. The incumbent provides crisis management and as requested, serves on committees such as the Oversight Committee on Physical Intervention. The incumbent completes projects as directed by Administration that relate to psychology services and attends court as requested on behalf of the agency or individuals when psychological information is required. The incumbent also participates in team and clinical meetings to review the status of individuals served.
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
One year of post-doctoral experience in providing psychological services in an inpatient, outpatient or residential setting.
Special Requirements
Licensed Psychologist I's must possess current licensure as a Psychologist issued by the State of Nevada Board of Psychological Examiners at the time of appointment and maintain licensure as a condition of continuing employment.
Working evenings, weekends, and/or holidays is required.
A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items.
A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.
Requires a valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility at the time of appointment and for continuing employment.
